Turkish Journalist: Turkey Headed for Civil War

Twice last month, Islamic State (IS) bombings have targeted Turkish civilians, and Turkish security forces continue arrests of Islamic State members, as well as Turkish Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants.  March’s bombings continue a spate of IS and PKK attacks, which have killed dozens, that have some warning of a civil war in Turkey.

Sadi Tekelioğlu, a Danish-Turkish journalist and former owner of a Danish-Turkish newspaper, reports in the Danish media that the situation is worrying average Turks, who think a civil war is possible.

“It’s hard to say what is happening right now in Turkey. But there are threats both from Kurdish separatists and the Islamic State – and simultaneously other countries are now encouraging people to leave Turkey. It’s tremendously worrying. If you ask the ordinary Turk, Turkey is on the way to civil war.”
