Russia, Vietnam to hold joint military exercises during 2018-2020

The governments of Russia and Vietnam have agreed to hold joint military exercises while increasing military and security cooperation during the 2018-2020 timeframe.

Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said at talks with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and Vietnamese Defense Minister Ngo Xuan Lich that measures were being taken to implement the agreement.

“We have drawn up a three-year plan, for the 2018-2020 period, which concerns our military cooperation and joint activities, including meetings and drills,” the Russian defense minister said.

In addition, officials from both countries talked about bilateral military and technological agreements that might be struck.
