Report claims Iran has ordered Hezbollah to complete takeover of Israeli border in Golan

The Iranian government has ordered its proxy, Hezbollah, and the Syrian army to speed up their takeover of an Israeli border region near the Golan Heights, and to make preparations for the next phase of fighting.

“The Iranians, who command both the Syrian army units and Iran’s proxy Hezbollah, have been pushing these forces relentlessly to the southern border with Israel, despite recent Israeli attacks on Hezbollah, Syrian and Iranian posts. Iran is keeping its eyes on the prize: crossing every Israeli-drawn red line on the way to the border,” said the report.

“A more aggressive Israeli response to Iran’s maneuvering north of the border could drag the region into more intense confrontations,” it added.

(Analyst comment: Israel has been striking Iranian and Hezbollah positions inside Syria, and has vowed to continue doing so to prevent their consolidation of power.)
