Israel shoots down third missile from Gaza Strip

The Israeli military has intercepted a third missile that was fired from the Gaza Strip amid continuing unrest following President Donald Trump’s announcement that he would move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Earlier, the Iron Dome missile defense shield intercepted another rocket that had been fired at southern Israel from the strip.

On Thursday, shortly after Trump made his announcement, two missiles were fired from the same general area but fell short and landed in Palestinian territory.

Israel responded with tank and missile fire directed at military posts in the strip after responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Islamist group operating in Gaza — Al-Tawhid Brigades — but no casualties were reported.

Following Trump’s announcement Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh threatened to start a new Intifada against Israel. [source]
