Early Warning or 18 April 2019

Good morning. Here’s your Early Warning for Thursday, 18 April 2019.

Politics & Governance

Attorney General Bill Barr is set to speak at a press conference this morning and then release a redacted version of the Mueller report to Congress. Left wing pundits are hopeful that the report will outline enough information to keep impeachment talks alive. Speaking anonymously but on the record, some of Mueller’s team previously described the final report as more “troubling” than AG Barr indicated. The left wing pundits are also pointing to phone conversations between the AG’s office and White House officials for the alleged purposes of aiding the White House in forming a rebuttal to some potentially damning information. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Pompeo reportedly met with AG Barr to discuss potential fallout among ally countries whose intelligence services could be named in the Mueller report. Australia and the United Kingdom allegedly played a role in reporting Trump-Russia information to U.S. officials.

“We come from a broken family, we are a little unsettled. Sometimes you spend the weekend with divorced dad. That feels like fun but then you get sick. That is what America is going through. We are living with divorced dad.” — Michelle Obama, saying that President Trump is “divorced dad”

“We won this election, it wasn’t in districts like mine, or Alexandria’s… But those are districts that are solidly Democratic — this glass of water would win with a D next to its name in those districts.” – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

In an interview with Maria Bartiromo this morning (Fox Business), JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said of the US economy: “It seems it’s just a little slowdown. Other than trade, I’m not sure what’s going to stop it in the next year or two. There’s no law that says we won’t have growth for another couple years.”

Strategic/Defense Situational Awareness

North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un presided over a test launch of a “new-type tactical guided weapon.” It doesn’t appear to have been an ICBM or nuclear weapon, however, it still sends a message to the Trump administration: We’re still here and we’re still developing weapons.
