Early Warning for 10 August

While the saga continues in the Korean Peninsula, I want to turn your attention to a domestic indicator: this Saturday’s Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA.  Here’s what you need to know:

— The Unite the Right rally represents the growing Alt-Right movement’s commitment to political and ideological activism.

— The Charlottesville City Council, after rounds of deliberation trying to figure out how to legally stop the rally, on Tuesday finally revoked the permit for Lee Park.  Instead, the Council approved the rally for McIntire Park, saying that the rally was too large for Lee Park (which has been renamed Emancipation Park); and that’s despite the fact that the Council has approved much larger events for Lee Park in the past.  The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is now representing Jason Kessler, the rally’s organizer, as he vows to hold the rally in Lee Park regardless.

— Charlottesville’s Vice Mayor, Wes Bellamy, used his Twitter account on several occasions in previous years to publish incendiary, anti-white tweets.  He was reportedly instrumental in the decision to revoke Saturday’s permit for the rally.

— Being so close to the Leftist strongholds on the East Coast, we expect a significant turnout for counter-demonstrations.  The City Council approved two permits for counterprotests on Saturday, and the mobilization of Antifa groups is a high likelihood.  The presence of law enforcement has largely determined the amount of violence that takes place at these rallies.

— As of earlier this week, the City Council had not published information on the security plan or the presence or mission of state or local law enforcement.  Still, we expect violence.
