A media report on Tuesday claimed that the U.S. DEFCON threat condition would soon be raised in anticipation of another missile test by North Korea.
The story implicated that raising the threat would be in response to anticipated U.S. reaction to the test.
The story quoted analysts who said that North Korea’s next missile test could come “sooner than expected.”
The same analysts also ‘predicted’ that the U.S. would ‘jump at the chance’ to go to war against North Korea.
The US is currently at Defcon 5, code Green, meaning there are no imminent nuclear threats against the country. But the analysts said that the global situation is becoming increasingly volatile, especially in Asia.
The DEFCON organization, which is private and not affiliated with the U.S. government, noted further that that last North Korean missile test “took a number of experts by surprise, and many warn that North Korea is rapidly advancing its ICBM capabilities.”
“South Korea believes that North Korea may complete its nuclear program in 2018. Additionally, North Korea is continuing work at expanding the Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Site,” the media report quoted Defcon analysts as saying.
