China confirms test of powerful new ICBM

The Chinese military has confirmed another successful test of its powerful new DF-41 missile.

“It is a normal practice for China to develop missiles as scheduled, and it is not against any specific country, region or target,” Senior Col. Wu Qian, a Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman, said last week.

“We always follow our national defense policy, which is defensive in nature, and a military strategy of active defense,” he said. “We develop weapons and armament only to meet our need of national security.”

Earlier reports noted that the latest test of the multi-warhead DF-41 took place just two days before President Donald Trump’s visit to China last month.

China regularly uses missile tests to send geostrategic and political messages.

With a range of about 7,500 miles, the missile can strike anywhere in the U.S. and the world. It reportedly carries six-to-10 warheads, marking a quantum leap in Chinese nuclear capabilities. [source]
