[Low Intensity Conflict] Socialist group sets up legal defense fund for protesters at the University of Florida

An international socialist group has set up legal defense fund for protesters who will confront Richard Spencer and Alt-Right attendees of his speech. As we’ve seen with similar demonstrations, a prepared legal defense fund makes potential protesters more likely to engage in counter-demonstrations. This report is for subscribers of Low Intensity Conflict.

At 12pm on Thursday, October 19th free citizens will confront hate and fascism by gathering at the University of Florida Performing Arts Center to protest white nationalist Richard Spencer. People who organize and protest against fascism, racism, and Nazis are at great risk of being arrested.  Join us in donating for necessary legal costs, bail money, and associated travel expenses.

The Gainesville IWW oversees the administration of this invaluable resource, but recipients do not have to be IWW members to receive funding.  An injury to one is an injury to all.

Let your allies know they can stand up for justice, and not have to lose their job or stay incarcerated for lack of bail, and attorney, or gas money. [source]

(Analyst Comment: The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) is an international socialist group involved in community defense. The “General Defense Committees” are involved in organizing street-level actions like protests and counter-demonstrations. Gainesville, FL has a General Defense Committee, so we may see IWW protestors at Thursday’s event.)
